- Since 2024, Sierra Community House has utilized TOT-TBID Dollars At Work to help hundreds of local workforce households attain and sustain housing through comprehensive case management services, legal assistance, and direct payments to landlords, utility companies, and for other housing-related costs.
- Over the past two years, 194 households in the workforce received direct assistance with rent and utility payments.
- 96% of surveyed recipient households reported remaining housed since receiving assistance.
Recent Updates
Sierra Community House helped local workforce households to attain and sustain housing by providing case management services, legal assistance, and direct payments to landlords, utility companies, and for other housing-related costs. During the 3rd quarter of Year 2, SCH accomplished the following:
- $29,500 in TOT-TBID funds were paid directly to landlords/utility companies on behalf of 12 households
- SCH Advocates provided 21 households with legal services related to a landlord-tenant matters
- SCH Advocates leveraged $4,000 from the Southwest Gas utility assistance partnership to help 10 households maintain gas service
- SCH Advocates provided resource navigation services related to stabilizing housing for 141 households.

April-June 2025:
- $71,856.38 in TOT-TBID funds were paid directly to landlords/utility companies on behalf of 39 households.
- SCH advocates provided 20 households with legal services related to landlord-tenant matters.
- SCH advocates leveraged $6,165.59 from the Southwest Gas utility assistance partnership to help 18 households maintain gas service.
- SCH advocates provided resource navigation services related to stabilizing housing for 141 households.
January-March 2025:
- $33,355 in TOT-TBID funds were paid directly to landlords/utility companies on behalf of 19 households,
- SCH Advocates provided 17 households with legal services related to a landlord-tenant matter,
- SCH Advocates leveraged $10,453.11 from the Southwest Gas utility assistance partnership to help 33 households maintain gas service
- SCH Advocates provided resource navigation services related to stabilizing housing for 121 households.
October-December 2024:
With TOT-TBID funds, Sierra Community House helped local workforce households to attain and sustain housing by providing case management services, legal assistance, and direct payments to landlords, utility companies, and other housing-related costs. During the 4th quarter of this 3-yr sponsorship grant:
- $30,503.11 in TOT-TBID funds were paid directly to landlords/utility companies on behalf of 20 households,
- SCH Advocates provided 21 households with legal services related to a landlord-tenant matter,
- SCH Advocates leveraged $2,450 from the Southwest Gas utility assistance partnership to help 10 households maintain gas service
- SCH Advocates provided resource navigation services related to stabilizing housing for 160 households.
SCH services addressed urgent threats to housing stability (i.e., eviction notices) and root causes of housing insecurity, including loss of employment, divorce, death in the household, illness/injury, and vehicle repair needs. Our three-pronged approach of tenant-based rental and utility assistance, legal assistance, and case management supports long-term housing stability for local workers. It preserves long-term rental units in the process.
July-September 2024:
During the 3rd quarter of this 3-yr sponsorship grant:
- $23,160 in TOT-TBID funds were paid directly to landlords/utility companies on behalf of 16 households,
- SCH Advocates provided 16 households with legal services related to a landlord-tenant matter,
- SCH Advocates leveraged $480 from the Southwest Gas Utility Assistance partnership to help 3 households maintain gas service
- SCH Advocates provided resource navigation services related to stabilizing housing for 167 households.
April-June 2024:
During the 2rd quarter of this 3-yr sponsorship grant:
- $78,517 in TOT-TBID funds were paid directly to landlords/utility companies on behalf of 53 households
- SCH Advocates provided 13 households with legal services related to a landlord-tenant matter
- SCH Advocates leveraged $3,161 from the Southwest Gas Utility Assistance partnership to help 13 households maintain gas service
- SCH Advocates provided resource navigation services related to stabilizing housing for 191 households
January-March 2024:
During the 1st quarter of this 3-yr sponsorship grant:
- $20,550.80 in TOT-TBID funds were paid directly to landlords/utility companies on behalf of 14 households,
- SCH Advocates provided 22 households with legal services related to a landlord-tenant matter,
- SCH Advocates leveraged $10,614 from the Southwest Gas Utility Assistance partnership to help 47 households maintain gas service
- SCH Advocates provided resource navigation services related to stabilizing housing for 171 households.
