- The Martis Valley Tail (MVT) is an approximately 10-mile paved class 1 multiple-use trail through Martis Valley and the Northstar California resort and climbing to the ridgeline defining the Lake Tahoe Basin.
- The MVT is also an integral segment of the resort triangle trail network which will connect the communities of Truckee, Kings Beach, and Tahoe City.
- The Martis Valley Trail is a paved Class 1 ADA accessible trail and is open to all. It benefits locals and visitors alike.
- 4.55 miles of the MVT has been constructed from the Town of Truckee through Army Corps of Engineers property in the Martis Valley to the Castle Peak Peaking Lots at Northstar.
- Segment 3F, approx. 1.23 miles, will be a continuance of the trail between the Castle Peak Parking Lots and the Northstar Village.

Castle Peak Lots to Northstar Village
- The project remains on track for completion this fall, an impressive milestone given that past trail sections of similar scale have taken multiple years to build.
- C&D Contractors are now in their fifth month of construction and have done an excellent job managing resources and maintaining high-quality work.
- Key progress milestones:
- Bridges installed
- Rockery wall construction and boardwalk installation completed
- Subgrade preparation and aggregate base placement finished
- Revegetation well underway
- Paving was recently completed, marking a major step toward project completion.
- The crew is now finishing aggregate base shoulders along the trail.
- All remaining earthwork is scheduled for completion by October 31, following a grading extension approved by Placer County.
- Work at rest area and trailhead structures will continue into November, with full project completion expected by the end of the month.
