The Tahoe Wood project maps opportunities to turn thinned wood from local forest restoration and wildfire mitigation efforts into small-business opportunities.

  • The forests around Tahoe are severely overcrowded, harming tree health and putting our community at risk of catastrophic wildfires. Local forestry and fire agencies are working hard to address this, resulting in large quantities of low-value wood that often has nowhere to go.
  • By identifying opportunities to develop viable wood products from local forest waste, this project supports regional economic development and entrepreneurship goals while strengthening forest resilience in the North Lake Tahoe community.
  • The project team is developing open-access business plans and organizing training and stakeholder workshops to support local entrepreneurs.

The TOT-TBID Dollars At Work program is powered by the North Tahoe business community. Thank you to the business owners who created the Tourism Business Improvement District. In partnership with Placer County.
